Kyle Krisiloff, Billy Ballew Motorsports No. 15 Gateway Preview
April 27, 2006
Unlike most of the tracks on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series circuit, Krisiloff has previously competed at the Gateway International Raceway. In 2005′s ARCA Series event at GIR, Krisiloff started fifth and finished 33rd following an incident.
Krisiloff’s last NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, which took place at Martinsville Speedway, didn’t go exactly to plan. However, after going down three laps early on in the event due to a flat tire, Krisiloff persevered and regained all three laps by the conclusion of the race to finish in 23rd position on the lead lap.
2006 is Kyle Krisiloff’s first full season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as he attempts to achieve the Raybestos Rookie of the Year award against no less than 10 other competitors. He currently sits second in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings, 22 points behind leader Erik Darnell. Krisiloff is the youngest competitor in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at the age of 20. Krisiloff battles with competitors more than twice his age and with as many years of experience.
2006 marks the fifth full-season effort by Billy Ballew Motorsports. Over the last two seasons, the team has achieved four wins, two Bud Pole Awards, 23 top-10 finishes and 12 top-five finishes. The team finished fifth in the 2005 NCTS Owners’ Points Standings with eight different drivers throughout the year.
Kyle Krisiloff Quotes:
On This Weekend: “I’m looking forward to racing this weekend at Gateway. I raced in the ARCA race there last year, so I have some experience there. Gateway is a unique track. It’s flat so handling is very important. The fact that turns one and two and turns three and four are completely different corners is more challenging. It’s a little different than what we are used to racing. The track has some of the same characteristics as Martinsville, our last race, so we’re bringing the same truck. I think we’ll have a good weekend in the No. 15 Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau/Juice Plus +/Weber Chevrolet/ditech.com truck.”
On Having Three Weeks Off: “I was able to go home (Indianapolis, Ind.) and visit my family and friends, but I’m anxious to get back to the track. After Gateway, we still have a couple more weeks off before Lowe’s then we’ll be on the road pretty much from there on out. I’m ready for the season to get into full swing.”
Quick Notes:
- Billy Ballew Motorsports’ Average Starting Position at Martinsville is 16 with their Average Finishing Position being 15.5. Their best start came in 2004 with driver Shane Hmiel. Former NCTS Champion Mike Skinner scored the best finish at Gateway for Billy Ballew Motorsports recording a 12th place finish in 2003.
- Sponsors for the Billy Ballew Motorsports team this weekend include the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau, Juice Plus +, Weber Chevrolet and ditech.com. The Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau and Juice Plus + both return from the 2005 season where they adorned the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevrolet in the Memphis and Nashville races. Weber Chevrolet jumps on board for this weekend’s race in their hometown of St. Louis. Weber Chevrolet is in their 104th year of business and is the largest seller of Chevrolet cars and trucks in the state of Missouri. ditech.com has been on board for the first four races of the season and will continue to support the No. 15 team this weekend.
- The truck Krisiloff will steer around the Gateway facility is the same truck he raced at Martinsville Speedway. The truck sustained minor damage during practice prior to the event and a little more damage with the “bumping and banging” on the short track, but repairs have been made to prepare for this Saturday’s race.
