Krisiloff Ready to Tackle the “Monster Mile”
May 31, 2006
He may be young but he’s not scared of monsters. Twenty-year-old Kyle Krisiloff has intentions of facing the “monster” this Friday at Dover International Speedway for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ AAA Insurance 200. Krisiloff will be heading to the “Monster Mile” for the first time, but has last year’s winner, Kyle Busch, as his teammate this weekend.
“I have never been to Dover so the first practice should be pretty exciting for the No. 15 ditech.com/Krud Kutter Chevrolet,” Krisiloff said. “I’m definitely going to ask Kyle Busch a few things about the place because it doesn’t seem to matter what kind of vehicle he’s racing, he gets around the place well.”
Asking Busch wouldn’t be a bad idea, as Busch is the defending winner of the race. Busch piloted the No. 15 ditech.com Chevy for Billy Ballew Motorsports last year to victory and Krisiloff hopes to be in contention for the same result.
Although this will be his first time tackling Dover, Krisiloff closely relates the track to Nashville Superspeedway, a track he does have some laps on from ARCA competition, because of its concrete surface.
“I enjoy running Nashville so I think the concrete should be a good thing,” continues Krisiloff. “Everyone says Dover is an awesome track so I’m definitely looking forward to my first race there.”
From the mile and a half of Lowe’s Motor Speedway to the rinky-dink half-mile of Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series now moves on to the mile-oval of Dover International Speedway on week three of their nine-week stretch.
“It’s nice to finally get in the swing of things,” said Krisiloff. “And we’re definitely gaining experience on all these different types of tracks. The Billy Ballew Motorsports team is always prepared when we get to the track. It’s just a matter of me adapting to the surroundings. Dover should be a good place to learn.”
Krisiloff currently sits 19th in the drivers points and third in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings.
The AAA Insurance 200 rolls off at 4:45 p.m. EST but is tape-delayed on SPEED Channel until 8:00 p.m. MRN Radio and XM Satellite Radio will carry the race broadcast live from Dover International Speedway.
