Busch Takes His Second Consecutive Win in the Quaker Steak & Lube 200
May 24, 2006“Rowdy Busch in Victory Lane tonight!” That’s what Kyle Busch exclaimed when exiting the No. 51 National Land Liquidations/Manheim Auto Auctions Chevrolet Friday night in Victory Lane. Busch captured the Quaker Steak & Lube 200 for his second year in a row for Billy Ballew Motorsports. The sixth race of the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season was Busch’s first for the year.
“Rowdy Busch” was developed after the team decided to use the No. 51, reverse of Billy Ballew Motorsports’ main team, the No. 15 in which Kyle Krisiloff pilots. Days of Thunder is one of Busch’s favorite movies and the character Rowdy Burns drives the No. 51 in the movie. Busch decided to play off that and it worked, much to the delight of everyone. (more…)
Krisiloff Hopes to Kick Off Nine-Week Stretch with Good Run at Lowe’s
May 17, 2006
Twenty-year-old Kyle Krisiloff hopes to kick off the nine-week stretch of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule this weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway by having a good run in the Quaker Steak and Lube 200. Krisiloff has good reason to be excited heading into this Friday night’s race, as his team, Billy Ballew Motorsports, is the defending champions of the race.
“I’m looking forward to racing at Lowe’s this weekend,” said Krisiloff. “It’s been a little aggravating racing then having a couple weeks off so it will be nice to get into a stretch where we’re racing every week. I haven’t competed at Lowe’s in a couple years but I like the track.”
Krisiloff’s last visit to Lowe’s Motor Speedway was back in 2004, when he competed in an ASA event. He ran in the top-five all day long and even led a few laps and hopes the experience will transfer to the No. 15 ditech.com/Krud Kutter Chevrolet. The facility recently had a face-lift, as the track received a new paving job. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has yet to test on the new pavement, as they hit the track for the first time on Thursday for their optional test day. (more…)
Busch Returns to Lowe’s to Defend Victory
May 16, 2006Kyle Busch made history last May when he became the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ youngest winner at 20 years, 18 days of age after taking the victory in the Quaker Steak and Lube 200 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Busch returns this Friday night to defend his victory and make his first series start this season in the No. 51 National Land Liquidators/B & G General Store/Manheim Central Fla. Auto Auction/Manheim’s Orange Co. Auto Auctions Chevrolet. He’ll once again be driving for Billy Ballew Motorsports, the team he visited victory lane with in 2005.
“I’m just really excited to get back into the truck series for the first time this year with Billy Ballew Motorsports,” said Busch. “It’s the place where I got my first truck series win and I always tend to run well at Lowe’s. It will be some fun and also will be good to get some more track time on the new pavement to prepare for the weekend of the ‘600’. Billy Ballew is one of my favorite people to work with and it’s just a great opportunity for me to get back behind the wheel of a Craftsman truck – it’s a great team.” (more…)
Krisiloff Victim to Incident at Gateway
May 4, 2006
Kyle Krisiloff fell victim to an incident on lap 61 to finish 33rd in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Gateway International Raceway on Saturday evening. The No. 15 Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau/Juice Plus +/Weber Chevrolet/ditech.com Chevrolet ran as high as 12th before getting swept up in the accident. Before getting involved, the Billy Ballew Motorsports team was positive a good finish was in the books.
“We had just run our fastest lap of the race the lap before the accident,” Krisiloff said. “The No. 15 Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau/Juice Plus +/Weber Chevrolet/ditech.com Chevrolet was great. Everything we did to it seemed to help and I believe we could have finished anywhere from seventh to 12th place.”
Rain throughout the day limited the amount of time the teams got on the 1.25-mile oval. The skies finally cleared enough to get an hour of practice in before taking the green flag for the Dodge Ram Tough 200. NASCAR officials called off qualifying because of the weather, lining the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports-entry in 20th position. (more…)
