NASCAR Busch Series regular Johnny Sauter will head to The Milwaukee Mile for some double duty action, as he plans to compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event on Friday night also. Sauter, from nearby Necedah, Wis., will be driving the No. 51 Bowen Family Homes Chevrolet for Billy Ballew Motorsports at his home track and can’t wait to get behind the wheel for his second NCTS start this year.

“I’m extremely excited to get back to Milwaukee and have some fun at home,” said the 28-year-old Sauter. “Obviously, to be able to run with Billy Ballew Motorsports again is a fantastic opportunity. They have really good equipment and I look forward to working with Billy (Ballew) and Richie (Wauters, crew chief) again.”

Sauter raced for BBM last year at Texas Motor Speedway and finished in 11th position after starting in the rear of the field after making an engine change. Sauter hopes to improve on his finish, especially running at home and one of his favorite race tracks.

“Milwaukee is a good place,” said Sauter. “It’s a flat short track like what I grew up racing on and it’s actually what I prefer. I’m just lucky enough for it to be my home track and my favorite type of track. I have the best of both worlds.”

While the No. 51 Bowen Family Homes Chevy is the second entry for Billy Ballew Motorsports, as their primary truck is the No. 15 of Kyle Krisiloff, their efforts are not lax in preparation for wanting a good finish out of both trucks.

“Billy’s trucks are always top-notch,” continues Sauter. “My Yellow Transportation guys (Sauter’s Busch team) are pitting the truck. This will be good for Richie who is here at his home track too. It will be a lot of fun.”

Several members of both Billy Ballew Motorsports teams hail from Wisconsin, including Crew Chief Richie Wauters of Green Bay. Other team members from Wisconsin include Jay Czarapata from Krakow, Steve Wauters, Richie’s brother, also from Green Bay. Members from the No. 15 team include mechanic Darin Bavery of Edgerton and hauler driver Chris Wood of Sun Prairie.

The Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 gets underway at 9:15 p.m. EST Friday night from The Milwaukee Mile. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel and MRN Radio.
