Milwaukee’s Historical Mile Next Up for Krisiloff
June 22, 2006
Kyle Krisiloff, grandson of Mari H. George, COO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, has deep roots within motorsports history, but plans to take on another one of motorsports’ historical tracks this weekend. Twenty-year-old Krisiloff will compete at The Milwaukee Mile, the world’s longest-running operational racing facility, for the Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 on Friday evening. It won’t be the first time Krisiloff has raced at The Milwaukee Mile. He made his NASCAR Busch Series debut and an ARCA Series appearance in 2005, along with a start in the CART Toyota Atlantic Series in 2003 at the one-mile facility.
This time around, Krisiloff will be behind the wheel of the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevrolet in his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start at The Milwaukee Mile.
“The Milwaukee Mile has a lot of history and is fairly close to where I grew up,” says the Indianapolis native. “I have enjoyed running Milwaukee in the past. I got my first CART Toyota Atlantic Series podium there and set a lap record that weekend. In the Busch Series, we were top-10 in practice and qualified pretty well. I like running flat tracks and Milwaukee is just a special place. Hopefully, we can build on the things we worked on at Gateway (a similar flat track) and have a solid finish this weekend for Billy Ballew Motorsports.” (more…)

NASCAR Busch Series regular Johnny Sauter will head to The Milwaukee Mile for some double duty action, as he plans to compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event on Friday night also. Sauter, from nearby Necedah, Wis., will be driving the No. 51 Bowen Family Homes Chevrolet for Billy Ballew Motorsports at his home track and can’t wait to get behind the wheel for his second NCTS start this year.
“I’m extremely excited to get back to Milwaukee and have some fun at home,” said the 28-year-old Sauter. “Obviously, to be able to run with Billy Ballew Motorsports again is a fantastic opportunity. They have really good equipment and I look forward to working with Billy (Ballew) and Richie (Wauters, crew chief) again.”
Sauter raced for BBM last year at Texas Motor Speedway and finished in 11th position after starting in the rear of the field after making an engine change. Sauter hopes to improve on his finish, especially running at home and one of his favorite race tracks. (more…)
Krisiloff Pockets 32nd at Michigan
June 20, 2006
Kyle Krisiloff and the No. 15 Krud Kutter Chevrolet gained a few spots from his starting position to finish in 32nd position in the AAA Insurance 200 at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon.
After starting in the 35th position, Krisiloff moved to 31st following his first pit stop on lap seven during the first caution period. The second caution came quickly afterwards on lap 11 and several others pitted, moving the No. 15 Krud Kutter Chevrolet up to the 26th position.
Krisiloff had struggled with the handling on his truck during practice and the new set-up the Billy Ballew Motorsports team put on it was still not to his liking. Krisiloff commented, “I can’t run the bottom. I’m still very loose.” By lap 30, Krisiloff had dropped to 32nd and when the third caution came on lap 36, the No. 15 was brought down pit road for four tires, fuel and adjustments. (more…)
Truex, Jr.’s Second NCTS Start Ends with Cut Tire
Martin Truex, Jr. made his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start driving in this past weekend’s AAA Insurance 200 at Michigan International Speedway. The No. 51 Bowen Family Homes Chevrolet for Billy Ballew Motorsports started 36th on the grid, moved to as high as fifth and in contention for a top-10 finish before a cut tire relegated them to a 34th place finish.
Truex, Jr. qualified a very loose Silverado in 33rd position, but due to NASCAR’s new qualifying procedures, lined up in the final spot, alongside teammate Kyle Krisiloff, for the 100-lap event. By the first caution on lap seven, Truex, Jr. had moved up several spots but decided to bring the No. 51 Bowen Family Homes Chevrolet down pit road for some chassis adjustments. He restarted in 29th place and when the caution came back out on lap 11, Truex, Jr. radioed into crew chief Richie Wauters that the changes “definitely helped a lot.” (more…)
