Busch Hopes Prior Experience Will Mean Victory for Billy Ballew Motorsports
September 16, 2006Kyle Busch will once again pilot the No. 15 Team Davis Dirt Racing Chevrolet for this weekend’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at New Hampshire International Speedway. Busch drove for the team in 2005 at NHIS, producing a solid top-10 effort. Busch hopes his prior experience, including being the latest NEXTEL Cup winner at NHIS, will be beneficial and carry over to his No. 15 Silverado for the 200-lap event.
“This is the second year I have raced the No. 15 truck for Billy Ballew Motorsports at New Hampshire,” said Busch. “Last year, we got a top-10 and I’m hoping all my luck I’ve had in the cup car will translate over into the truck. It’s going to be good to log some more laps and have some fun at the same time. New Hampshire is a tough track to pass on, so we just hope for a good qualifying position and a chance to get up there and challenge for the win.”
Before making his NCTS debut at NHIS last year, Busch had only two starts, one in NEXTEL Cup and one in the Busch Series, at the “Magic Mile.” Now, not only has he earned a bit of experience in the Craftsman Truck Series, he has already visited victory lane, winning this year’s NEXTEL Cup event held earlier in July. His record is pretty impressive, as Busch hopes to keep the streak going picking up another victory this weekend in his No. 15 Team Davis Dirt Racing Chevrolet.
Team Davis Dirt Racing is owned by retired racer Bobby Davis. After retiring from racing 22 years ago, Bobby’s son decided he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and take on the challenges of being behind the wheel. They compete in circuits all over the country, including the Fast Track Series which they finished third in points in 2005. The team also won the World Crate Late Model Championship held last October.
“I think our chances are really good to win this race,” said Bobby Davis. “The Billy Ballew Motorsports team should’ve won Bristol, but there’s an excellent chance for this weekend. We’re excited to be a part of it. We’re just old school racers who are excited about teaming up with Billy and making the most of it.”
The New Hampshire 200 gets underway at 2:15 ET from New Hampshire International Speedway. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED Channel and MRN Radio.
