LESTER LOOKS FORWARD TO GRASS-ROOTS RACING
May 23, 2007Bill Lester, piloting the No. 15 Christian Debt Consolidation Chevrolet Silverado, joins the rest of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers in the seventh race of the 25-race season at the Mansfield Motorsports Park for the running of the Ohio 250, Saturday, May 26. The Craftsman Truck Series drivers always enjoy the loyal NASCAR fans in that region who pack the facility and the old school racing that takes place at the asphalt track just under 5/8-mile.
Lester has three starts at the Mansfield Motorsports Park with a best start of 20th in 2004 and a best finish of 18th in 2005. Billy Ballew Motorsports has one top-five start and one top-five finish at the track, both in 2005. (more…)
THREE TIME WIN NOT TO BE FOR BALLEW AND BUSCH
May 21, 2007Kyle Busch returned to the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports, Richard Tocado Companies Chevrolet Silverado for the first time in the 2007 season in hopes of becoming the fourth driver to win three or more races in a row at the same track in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Busch swept the victory at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in 2005 and 2006 for Billy Ballew Motorsports. But victory wasn’t meant to be as handling and tire issues kept him from repeating the win.
Busch put the Chevrolet Silverado in the sixth place position on the starting grid after posting a qualifying time of 30.263 seconds at a speed of 178.560 mph on the 1.5-mile speedway in Concord, North Carolina. The team was optimistic at the start of the race, but had to pit under the first caution for a flat tire on lap eight. Busch clipped the outside wall after reporting a tire vibration and then a hang-up on pit road cost the team several positions on the track. Busch rallied from restarting 32nd in the field to the 11th place finish for the Billy Ballew Motorsports Team. (more…)
SOLID FINISH FOR LESTER AT LOWE’S
Bill Lester in the No. 15 Manheim Central Florida Auto Auction Chevrolet Silverado set his sights on a stellar finish in Friday’s Quaker Steak and Lube 250 at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway, but handling issues kept him from a top-10 finish.
Lester placed his truck in the 17th position on the starting grid after posting a time of 30.680 seconds at a speed of 176.010 mph for the 134-lap event at the 1.5 mile speedway. Lester radioed in during the first of the seven caution periods in the race that the truck was tight off the corners, but waited until the second yellow flag flew to hit pit road to free up the truck. Again, Lester noted the truck was still too tight and began to lose positions on the track, going a lap down to the leaders. (more…)
Lester Looks for Luck at Lowe’s
May 16, 2007Bill Lester, driving the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Manheim Central Florida Auto Auction Chevrolet Silverado, heads to the Lowe’s Motor Speedway this Friday looking for a little luck after a disappointing appearance last season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck event.
Lester has three previous starts at the 1.5-mile speedway including his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series pole in 2003 and scored his best finish of sixth in 2005. Lester, finding himself out of the top-35 in points last season, missed the cut in qualifying sending the disappointed Bill Davis team home.
Lester participated in the open test last week at the speedway in Concord, NC looking to improve his run for Billy Ballew Motorsports. Lester and weekend teammate, NEXTEL Cup driver Kyle Busch, worked together and even switched trucks mid test to get a better feel for the track. (more…)
