Lester Lands Best Start at Short Track
June 30, 2007Bill Lester landed his best start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on a short track today after qualifying fifth for the running of the O’Reilly 200 tonight at the Memphis Motorsports Park. Lester posted a lap time of 22.878 seconds at a speed of 118.017 mph.
The race will be broadcast live beginning at 9:00pm ET on SPEED.
ALMIROLA AIMS TO ACE MEMPHIS
June 28, 2007Billy Ballew Motorsports announced today a joint venture with Joe Gibbs Racing for the running of Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series O’Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park.. The No. 51 FedEx Express Chevrolet Silverado will be piloted by NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series regular, Aric Almirola.
Almirola, a development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, had four starts in the NCTS in 2005 and spent his full rookie season (2006) driving the No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado. During his two years in the series, he has 29 starts with five top-10 finishes. (more…)
Lester Looks to Commemorate 10 Years at MMP with Solid Run Saturday
June 27, 2007This week the Memphis Motorsports Park will celebrate its 10th year of NASCAR Racing when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series takes the track Saturday night. Bill Lester will be a part of that celebration while piloting the No. 15 Christian Debt Consolidation Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado in the O’Reilly 200.
Lester has five starts at the 3⁄4-mile oval of Memphis Motorsports Park with a best starting position of 12th in 2005 and a best finish of 17th in 2002. Billy Ballew Motorsports also has five starts at the track minutes from Graceland and world-famous Beale Street with a best start of sixth and a best finish of second, both in 2004. (more…)
Top-10 Still on Back Burner for Ballew and Lester
June 24, 2007Bill Lester took to the track at the famed Milwaukee Mile looking for his first top-10 finish of the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, but battery blues sent the driver home with a 24th place finish Friday night
Lester was loose in practice and qualifying but the team gambled that the truck would tighten up as the 200-lap/200-mile race unfolded in the evening hours. He placed the No. 15 Floors by Design Chevrolet Silverado in the 22nd spot on the starting grid after posting a time of 30.094 seconds at a speed of 119.625 mph
When the first caution flag waved on lap three, Lester reported that he felt that the grip was pretty good so far on the track. By the first pit stop under caution on lap 68, Lester had reported that the truck had become loose in and tight off the corners.
