Sutton To Extend Her Record at The Milwaukee Mile
June 20, 2007Kelly Sutton will extend her record for most starts by a female driver this weekend by making her 54th start while piloting the No. 51 Team COPAXONE® (glatiramer acetate injection) Chevrolet Silverado for the running of the Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at The Milwaukee Mile Friday, June 22, 2007.
This is the fifth consecutive year that a female driver has competed at The Milwaukee Mile. Sutton has her eye on becoming the highest finishing female when she takes to the track for the 200-lap event by beating a 24th place finish made by Deborah Renshaw in 2005. In the past four years, the female drivers in the series have finished 25th, 24th, 25th and 25th at the famed one-mile oval racetrack.
Billy Ballew Motorsports, who fields the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, has six previous starts in five years at The Milwaukee Mile. The team’s best start is third with Johnny Sauter in 2005 and a best finish of 11th in 2002 with Rich Bickle behind the wheel. Sutton has two starts at the West Allis, WI mile oval, with her best finish of 25th in 2004. She will also be making her last appearance in the No. 51 Team COPAXONE® (glatiramer acetate injection) Chevrolet Silverado Friday night.
“It’s been great being apart of Billy Ballew Motorsports,” Sutton said. “I hate that we have not been having any luck in the races that we have had with Billy but we are hoping that this last race with COPAXONE® (glatiramer acetate injection) for the year will be a good one. I know Billy has great equipment and Richie Wauters is one of the best crew chiefs so I hope that I can drive that truck up into the top 10 this weekend. We are still looking for sponsorship so I can continue to race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.”
The Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 (200 laps, 200 miles) is slated to begin at 9:00pm ET with live televised coverage on SPEED beginning at 8:30pm ET. Live radio coverage begins at 9:00pm ET on MRN & Sirius Satellite Radio.
