Monteith’s Debut Cut Short
August 27, 2007Bristol native Nate Monteith looked to have a successful run in his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut Wednesday night at the Bristol Motor Speedway in the No. 15 Graceway Pharmaceuticals Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado. Unfortunately, rear-end woes ended his night early at the .533-mile short track.
Monteith, new to the trucks, used both Tuesday’s open test and Wednesday’s practice to get comfortable behind the wheel of the Graceway Pharmaceuticals Silverado and felt confident heading into qualifying. But the truck snapped loose giving Monteith a much slower time then anticipated starting in the 35th place position using a truck owner’s points provisional position for the O’Reilly 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Synchronized Spin Sends Busch Home Without Win Wednesday Night at Bristol
August 24, 2007Kyle Busch in the No. 51 Flanders Beef Patties Billy Ballew Motorsports Silverado looked to have the dominant truck at the end of the O’Reilly 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Bristol Motor Speedway Wednesday night. But a synchronized spin on lap 181 of the 200 lap race with Travis Kvapil kept them both from Victory Lane sending Busch home in the 15th place position.
Busch, who flew in late on Tuesday afternoon after the NEXTEL Cup race that was a multi-day rainout at the Michigan International Speedway, hopped in the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado for the remainder of the open test. Busch struggled with grip on the tracks new surface. Kenny Wallace substituted for Busch until he could make it from Michigan and had the same troubles on the track. Wednesday mornings practice session didn’t seem to improve the truck, but by qualifying, the team led by Richie Wauters made the right changes with Busch posting a time of 15.959 seconds at a speed of 120.233 mph placing him in the ninth place on the starting grid for the 16th race of the 2007 NCTS season.
