Sieg Set to Stand-In for Busch with Ballew at Mansfield
May 20, 2008Shane Sieg will once again stand in for NASCAR driver Kyle Busch Saturday at the Mansfield Motorsports Park for the running of the Ohio 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race for Billy Ballew Motorsports. Sieg substituted for Busch in Kansas when conflicts in schedules of the Premier NASCAR Touring Series kept Busch from racing. Sieg will once again fill big shoes as he pilots the No. 51 Miccosukee Resorts Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra in the 250-lap race on the .5-mile short track in Mansfield, Ohio.
Billy Ballew Motorsports heads to the seventh race of the 25 race schedule back in the lead of the 2008 Owners Championship race after Busch put the truck on the pole and finished eighth at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway last week. The team has four previous starts with a best finish of third in 2005. Sieg has one previous start at the Mansfield Motorsports Park with a 16th place finish.
“It’s always difficult to step-in for someone, especially the caliber of a driver Kyle (Busch) is,” Sieg said. “We had a good run in Kansas but I really wanted to bring home a better finish for those guys. This week we’re focused on short track racing. Richie (Wauters), Doug (George) and all the guys at that race shop do a great job getting these trucks ready to race and I plan on bringing a top spot for them. I am honored that they trust me to drive their equipment and I am going to use everything I have to have a good result in the race.”
“I like racing at Mansfield because the fans are so supportive. It is a fun little short track that is fast with some great banking off the corners.”
The Ohio 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race is slated to begin Saturday, May 24 at 1:00pm ET. Live televised coverage on SPEED begins at 12:30pm ET with radio coverage beginning at 12:45pm ET on MRN & Sirius Satellite Radio.
