Kyle Busch in the No. 51 Miccosukee Resorts Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra dominated the running of the AAA Insurance 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Dover International Speedway Friday, May 30, 2008. Busch led 96 laps including lap one after his start of third place in the 200 mile, 200 lap race at the “Monster Mile”. Busch looked to be the clear victor until a fitting on the transmission broke sending him into the pits for repair and home from the track with a 27th place finish.

Busch qualified third for the event and immediately took the point position by the time the trucks went past the start/finish line for the first circuit. Busch in his own zip code settled in to save his tires on the concrete track but had the speed to catch the rear of the field putting multiple race trucks a lap down. Busch reported being aero-tight and asked for air pressure and track bar adjustments on his pit stop on lap 51. The quick stop under caution kept Busch in the lead where he was until the truck began to smoke on lap 96. As the caution flag flew, Busch headed to the garage area to find out what was causing the heavy smoke fearing they had to replace the transmission during the event. The crew rushed into action and found that it was a fitting on the side of the transmission had broken causing the leak. The team made the necessary repairs to the truck sending him back out on the racetrack in 19 laps.

When Busch returned to the track in the 31st position he was again the fastest truck on the track and set on a mission to pick up positions and regain some of his laps back from the leaders. Busch, on the restarts, was able to drive by the leader and keep in front of him making up two of the laps he had lost just from driving ability and speed in the Miccosukee Tundra. Despite his speed Busch was unable to regain enough positions settling for a 27th place finish.

“We had the fastest truck all day,” Busch said. “The truck was perfect until we had the part on the transmission break. These guys did a great job getting us back out on the track to pick up some positions for points. We are heading to Texas next week with the trucks and hope to put Billy Ballew back in victory lane.”

The three top NASCAR premiere touring series are in three locations next weekend and Busch will be the first driver to attempt to race in them all. Busch will race Friday night in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Texas Motor Speedway, Saturday at the Nashville Speedway in the Nationwide Series and Sunday at the Pocono Raceway in the Sprint Cup Series event.

Billy Ballew Motorsports developmental driver JR Norris who had a 20th place finish at the Texas Motor Speedway for the team in 2007 is slated to practice and qualify the No. 51 for Busch while he is at the Pocono Raceway for Sprint Cup Series practice.

The Sam’s Town 400 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race is scheduled to begin Friday, June 6, 2008 at 9:00 ET.
