Mitchell Victim of Attrition in Memphis
June 29, 2008Marc Mitchell and the Ergon race team were left singing the blues after the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park. The No. 15 Toyota Tundra was involved in two separate accidents at the rough and tumble .75-mile oval, with the final incident eliminating him from the event. Despite having a competitive truck for the majority of the night, Mitchell finished the race in 31st place.
Mitchell qualified in the 25th position. When the green flag dropped, he quickly advanced into the top-20 and set his sights on the top-10. Unfortunately, while pedaling to the front of the pack, the No. 22 truck drove into the left-front of the Ergon Tundra and pressed the fender against the tire. Mitchell’s Goodyear Wrangler blew and he had to make an unscheduled pit stop under green flag conditions to change the tires. The incident left him in 33rd place, two laps down to the leaders. Sieg a Solid Substitute for Ballew
Shane Sieg substituting for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch, in the No. 51 Miccosukee Resort Toyota Tundra for Billy Ballew Motorsports, brought home his career best NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series finish of ninth Saturday night in the running of the O’Reilly 200 at the Memphis Motorsports Park. Sieg who has driven four races for Ballew in 2008 posted the team’s eighth top-10 finish.
The Miccosukee Resort Toyota Tundra was fast from the time the team unloaded it from the transporter; posting the fastest time in the first practice and fifth quickest in the final practice. Sieg speed continued into qualifying where he 23.037 seconds at a speed of 117.132 mph placing the Craftsman Truck in the eighth place position for the 200 lap race. (more…)
Post Qualifying Notes
June 28, 2008Shane Sieg substituting in the No. 51 Miccosukee Resort Toyota Tundra will start eighth tonight in the running of the O’Reilly 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Memphis Motorsports Park Saturday.
Sieg posted a time of 23.037 seconds at a speed of 117.132 mph on the ¾-mile paved tri-oval Saturday afternoon. Billy Ballew Motorsports second entry the No. 15 Ergon piloted by Marc Mitchell will start 25th after having to qualify first in the 35 race truck field.
Televised race coverage begins live on SPEED at 7:30pm CT with the green flag dropping at 8:00pm CT. Radio coverage on MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio begins at 7:45pm CT.
Sieg Steps Back in for Ballew
June 24, 2008Shane Sieg will step back into the No. 51 Miccosukee Resorts Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra for the running of the O’Reilly 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Memphis Motorsports Park Saturday, June 28, 2008.
Sieg last piloted the No. 51 at the Mansfield Motorsports Park, but pit strategy did not pay off sending the team home with a 21st place finish. Sieg is back and ready to go to bring home his first top-five of 2008 for the Billy Ballew Motorsports team.
