Sieg Steps Back in for Ballew
June 24, 2008Shane Sieg will step back into the No. 51 Miccosukee Resorts Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra for the running of the O’Reilly 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Memphis Motorsports Park Saturday, June 28, 2008.
Sieg last piloted the No. 51 at the Mansfield Motorsports Park, but pit strategy did not pay off sending the team home with a 21st place finish. Sieg is back and ready to go to bring home his first top-five of 2008 for the Billy Ballew Motorsports team.
Sieg has one previous Craftsman Truck Series start at the Memphis Motorsports Park in 2004 with a 22nd place finish. Ballew has seven previous starts over six years with a best finish of fifth in 2004. Sieg looks to improve that finish for Ballew keeping him in the running for the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Owners Championship.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the No. 51 Toyota Tundra,” Sieg said. “I had a great run in both trucks this year. I had a solid run in the No. 15 in Dover and I am ready to bring the No. 51 Miccosukee truck upfront this week in Memphis. Richie (Wauters) and I have been building some great communication when we’ve run together and I think that Memphis is where it will be evident. Memphis is a great track, the fans are very supportive and the trucks always put on a good show.”
Miccosukee Resorts and Gaming will serve as the primary sponsor.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Southern race fans will have a break from the summertime heat with the O’Reilly 200 under the lights. Televised race coverage live on SPEED will begin at 7:30pm CT with the green flag dropping at 8:00pm CT. Radio coverage on MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio begins at 7:45pm CT.
The Billy Ballew Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Transport Drivers will be participating in the International LoneStar Rig Driver Challenge Friday morning, June 27, 2008 at the Memphis Motorsports Park. The competition consists of an obstacle course challenge on the road course at MMP testing the overall ability of the drivers. Scoring will be based on speed and accuracy. NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series broadcast partner, SPEED will be featuring the competition on the pre-race show.
Shane Sieg will also participate in the Craftsman Autograph session at the Memphis Motorsports Park. The event is slated from 6:30-7:15pm CT on Friday, June 27 just prior to final practice on the 3/4-mile paved tri-oval.
