Kyle Busch driving the No. 51 Miccosukee Resort Toyota Tundra took to the track for the running of the Silverado 350k in the third position at the Texas Motor Speedway Friday, October 31st. Busch and the Billy Ballew Motorsports had their own spooky Halloween week after the No. 51 transport hauler burnt in Shreveport, Louisiana while en route to the Texas Motor Speedway. The team was able to recover the primary truck, No. 11, some uniforms and a tool box. Despite all the challenges the Billy Ballew Motorsports team rallied posting a second place finish at the Denton County, Texas racetrack.

From the start of the race Busch excelled taking the lead before the field made their first circuit around the 1.5-mile Fort Worth, TX race track. Busch led three times for a total laps led to 87 laps in the 147 lap event. Busch notched several statistics according to the NASCAR Loop Data including only being passed three times during the 147-lap event, was the fastest on the restarts averaging a speed of 169.461 miles per hour.

“Overall, our run tonight was good especially with everything that’s gone on this week,” Busch said. “It’s just frustrating that the NASCAR rule book is the way it is with the restrictors and all of that. It’s hard to battle with those Chevrolets and those Fords with the way that we have so much drag in our Toyota’s and less front down force and all of that stuff. Yeah, I’m complaining. I’m going to do it. I’m not going to going to sugar coat it. I’m tired of it. Running second every week isn’t any fun. So we’ve got some work to do, we know, but not as much as we do for down the straight-aways.”

“With the adversity that Billy (Ballew, team owner) and all these guys on the whole Billy Ballew Motorsports team went through it’s a fine night to come home second but man we’re struggling a little bit in the speed department through the corners and mostly down the straightaway. That 33 (Ron Hornaday), we just can’t keep up with the way the NASCAR rule book is right now. It is what it is and we had a great truck. That was the best driving truck I’ve had here — it was cool to drive it like that. It’s hard to beat a truck that can pass everybody twice and stay that dominant up front.”

As the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season winds down to the final two races Billy Ballew still sits in the third place position in the 21008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Owners Points Championship. The teams will next head to the Phoenix International Raceway for the running of the Casino Arizona 150 Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Phoenix International Raceway.
