From the start of the event Monteith reported in to crew chief Brad Parrott that the truck was loose coming down pit road on lap 37 for four tires and returning on lap 38 for fuel and trackbar adjustments.

Monteith restarted in the 28th-place position and started making gains on the race track battling for position when on lap 50 the No. 09 Graceway Pharmaceuticals was spun by another competitor bringing out the caution.

Parrott brought the truck down pit road to begin making repairs pitting several times to fix the fender damage and service the Graceway Pharmaceuticals Tundra.

Monteith restarted in the 31st-place position and despite the damage on the Billy Ballew Motorsports Tundra he continued to battle for positions bringing home a 26th-place finish in the O’Reilly 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

“I really enjoyed running at Bristol this year,” Monteith said. “It was great having a local sponsor and running in my hometown. Graceway Pharma gave me a great opportunity this week and I hope that we put on a good show for them. As far as the finish, although we had a rough race, the team did exactly what we wished to accomplish…..finished the race at Bristol”

According to NASCAR Loop Statistical Data, Monteith tied for second as a “Closer” in the Camping World Truck Series race.  The figure is calculated by the number of positions improved in the last 10% of the race.  (more…)

Rowdy Ready to Rumble in Thunder Valley

Kyle Rowdy Busch the No. 51 Miccosukee Resort/Graceway Pharmaceutical Toyota Tundra returns to Bristol Motor Speedway as the defending race champion of the O’Reilly 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race

Busch dominated the 2008 race leading 145 of 203 laps in the Billy Ballew Motorsports entry on the 0.533-mile high banked oval race track.

The 24-year old driver has visited victory lane in each of the Top-Three NASCAR Touring Series posting one win, two top-five and three top-10 finishes in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, one win, five top-five, eight top-10 finishes and one pole in 10 Nationwide Series starts and nine NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts posting two wins, four top-five and six top-10 finishes

Billy Ballew Motorsports has nine previous starts at Bristol Motor Speedway with one win, three top-five and five top-10 finishes at the Thunder Valley short track.

Richie Wauters, who in his tenure as crew chief for Billy Ballew Motorsports has led the team to ten of the 12 posted victories, will return as the crew chief on the No. 51 Miccosukee Resort Tundra for the remainder of the 2009 series season.

Wauters knows the how the steep 36° turns and 16°straightaways on the concrete Bristol Motor Speedway can play on the setup of the truck.

“Concrete is a rougher surface and is not heat sensitive,” Wauters continued.  “It doesn’t change from day to night.  The track gets black with the more rubber down on it making the truck tighter so we anticipate for that in our set up.  I don’t know if the softer right side tire should have an overall effect on the grip.  It may play into a different pit strategy of pitting twice if the tires wear out.   We might have to make two pit stops for tires instead of the usual one and done.”

Miccosukee Resort & Gaming will serve as the primary sponsor with Graceway Pharmaceuticals; LLC headquartered in Bristol, TN will serve as the associate sponsor on the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Tundra.

“We’re very excited to have Graceway Pharmaceuticals onboard with all three teams,” Owner, Billy Ballew said.  “They are a great organization located right in Bristol and the way all these teams have been running this year we sure like to bring them to Victory Lane in their hometown.”

Native Bristol, Tennessee resident Nate Monteith will pilot the No. 09 Graceway Pharmaceuticals Tundra with Aric Almirola in the No. 15 entry at the 0.533 Mile high banked oval.

Monteith piloted a Billy Ballew Motorsports entry at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2007.  This will be Monteith’s second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start.  He also has two prior NASCAR Nationwide Series starts (2001 Nazareth Speedway, O’Reilly Raceway Park).

Billy Ballew Motorsports has nine previous starts at Bristol Motor Speedway with one win scored by Kyle Busch in 2008.  The independent team has posted three top-five and five top-10 finishes at the famed Tennessee short track.

Monteith is the 2008 Late Model Champion at Lonesome Pine Raceway and is the current 2009 Late Model Division presented by Graceway Pharmaceuticals Point’s leader at the 3/8-mile asphalt track in Coeburn, VA.

“I raced in the UARA (United Auto Racing Association) Late Model race at Bristol earlier this spring,” Nate Monteith said.  “We had a top-five run going until we were involved in an on-track incident.  The race gave me some advantage of seat time and I feel I gained some experience there on the new configuration of the track.  I have to thank Graceway Pharmaceuticals and Billy Ballew Motorsports for the opportunity to run in my hometown of Bristol in the No. 09 Tundra.”

Almirola Returns to the Trucks at Bristol

Filed under: News — admin @ 10:36 AM

Aric Almirola will return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to pilot the No. 15 Graceway Pharmaceuticals Billy Ballew Motorsports entry at Bristol Motor Speedway Wednesday, August 19, 2009.

Almirola last piloted the No. 15 truck at O’Reilly Raceway Park posting a third place finish for the independent team owner, Billy Ballew.  Almirola has one previous Camping World Truck Series start, three Nationwide Series and four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at the 0.533-mile high banked oval at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Almirola looks forward to returning to the short track in Bristol, Tennessee.

“If I had to rank tracks, Bristol is definitely in my top-three favorite tracks to race at on the NASCAR circuit,” Almirola stated.  “It is like being on one of those spinning rides at the carnival. You really have to focus on where you come on and off pit road to know where your pit stall is, because everything looks the same when you are going in a circle that fast. With it being a concrete surface, it has tons of grip. And it has more banking than any other track we go to, so add all those elements together and you have one fast race track.”

The high banked short track provides excellent racing excitement for both the drivers and fans but can be punishing on the body driving on the steep 36° turns and 16°straightaways.

“I would compare racing at Bristol to doing the hardest and most intense workout plan your body can stand for three hours,” Almirola said.  “I give credit to drivers who pull a triple-race weekend at Bristol. Your body is wore out by the time you finish a race.

As far as set-up, handling is huge at Bristol, and you can’t count out track position. The team has a good track record there, with plenty of top-5 finishes and a win with Kyle Busch. So I’m looking forward to being ahead of the curve going into practice on Wednesday morning and bringing home a trophy for the No. 15 team.”

Billy Ballew Motorsports has nine previous starts at Bristol Motor Speedway with one win scored by Kyle Busch in 2008.  The independent team has posted three top-five and five top-10 finishes at the famed Tennessee short track.

Doug George will return as the crew chief on the No. 15 Toyota Tundra for the remainder of the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season.  George, the veteran driver turned crew chief, spent the first half of the season with the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports team leading them to two victories in 2009.
