Ickler, a protégé of the famed Las Vegas NASCAR driver, Kyle Busch, will make his first start on the 1.5-mile speedway.

Billy Ballew Motorsports has 10 previous starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where the team scored their first victory in 2004 in their 100th-start with Shane Hmiel piloting the NASCAR Camping World Truck.

“Las Vegas is always a special race for this team,” Owner, Billy Ballew said.  “It was the track where we had our first win and holds a special meaning to me.  The fans, the Las Vegas atmosphere and the facility itself make it one of our most favorite venues to visit.”

“I’ve been asking around and trying to get an idea of what Las Vegas Motor Speedway is like,” Brian Ickler said.  “I’m told it is very similar to Lowe’s Motor Speedway in banking and that it has multiple grooves allowing for three-wide racing.  We had a pretty good run at Lowe’s (16th-place) so hopefully we’ll have a solid finish for Billy Ballew Motorsports and Graceway Pharmaceuticals.”

The Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is slated to begin at 6:00pm PT at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Saturday, September 26, 2009.

NH3_9688Kyle “Rowdy” Busch returned to Victory Lane with the No. 51 Miccosukee Resort / Graceway Pharmaceuticals Billy Ballew Motorsports team Saturday, September 19, 2009 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after a close call on fuel almost vaporized the victory.

Busch placed the Toyota Tundra in the second-place position for the 200-lap Heluvagood 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event and looked to take the lead on lap one when he and the pole sitter got a little loose forcing Busch to let off and not take the point position.  The spot didn’t hold long with the driving phenom picking up the point position by lap 17.

While leading Busch reported in to the Miccosukee Resort/Graceway Pharmaceuticals team that the truck was “a tick tight” discussing adjustments with crew chief Richie Wauters on what to do on the first pit stop.   That stop came on lap 37, taking on four tires and returning for fuel, cycling out in the third-place position for the restart on lap 42.

By lap 44, Busch had regained the lead but lost the spot on lap 67.  Busch held the second-place position until the next pit stop on lap 93 where the Billy Ballew Motorsports team took on fuel only with minor track bar and wedge adjustments. (more…)

SL3_5503Fuel fouled a top-five finish for Aric Almirola and the No. 15 Graceway Pharmaceuticals Team in the running of the Heluva Good! 200.  Almirola was running in the fourth-place position with four laps remaining in the 200-lap race when his race truck ran out of fuel.

Almirola and the team struggled with handling in the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports entry during practice and qualifying started in the 23rd-place position for the 200-lap race on the 1.058-mile track in Loudon, New Hampshire.  It didn’t take long for the skilled driver to move his way to the top-10 running two and three-wide to keep his streak of top-five finishes alive for the independent team owner.  (more…)
